Community Solar Array

The Foothills Community Solar Array at Taos Charter School is now online and producing clean, green electricity. For the first time ever, community members can have all the benefits of clean solar energy without the hassle and expense of constructing an individual system on your rooftop.

Solar panels in this array are available for purchase by individuals and businesses. Community solar subscribers will receive credits on their monthly Kit Carson Electric Company (KCEC) electric bills for the power produced by every panel that they own. Community solar plans are available to offset your entire electrical usage, or you can choose partial offset. The community solar program is open to anyone with a KCEC electric bill, including renters, those with shady properties, or those who live in shared buildings.

Benefits of Community Solar

Clean Energy Collective Save Money on Electricity: Lock in low rates now to protect against rising electricity costs. Your savings will increase as energy prices rise.
Clean Energy Collective Protect the Environment: Utilizing clean solar energy reduces pollution and greenhouse gases.
Clean Energy Collective Peace of Mind: CEC maintains the panels for 50 years, so owners never have to worry about cleaning, servicing, maintenance or repair. And since the panels are off your property, you never have to worry about construction, permits or repair appointments.
Clean Energy Collective It Moves With You: If you move within KCEC territory, the credits you receive from your panels transfer with you. Unlike leasing programs, CEC community solar allows you to actually own your panels. They are an asset that you can sell or give to your children.
