About Community-Owned Solar
CEC’s Colorado Springs Community-Owned Solar Farm provides clean energy to Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) customers through community solar, a new innovative model of renewable energy pioneered by CEC. CEC solar allows community members to purchase solar panels located in centralized solar arrays to offset their electricity use.
CEC’s community-owned solar makes solar available to more people than ever before, allowing all consumers to utilize clean renewable energy, including renters, those with poorly-sighted properties and individuals of all income levels, without having to build a costly system of their own.
CEC solar subscribers get all of the economic and environmental benefits of using solar power without having to install anything on their roof. Subscribers get credits applied directly to their monthly Colorado Springs Utilities bills for the power their panels produce. CEC takes care of everything through a 50-year maintenance and operations program, so consumers never have to worry about construction, maintenance or repair. Customers get to maximize the rewards of solar ownership for 50 years, with the ability to sell their panels at any time.
