BOULDER, COLO. – (August 20, 2014) Clean Energy Collective (CEC), the nation’s leading community-owned solar developer, today announced that it has been named to the 2014 Inc. 500 list, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. Ranked number 194 overall, and 11th within the Energy segment, CEC was recognized for its innovative community-owned solar solution being adopted by utilities and communities across the country. Between 2010 and 2013 CEC’s revenue grew 2,217 percent.

“We are thrilled to be named to the Inc. 500 list, and I’m so proud of our great team and committed partners,” said Clean Energy Collective CEO Paul Spencer. “The rapid growth of CEC’s community-owned solar model is a testament to the public’s desire to support renewable energies as strong financial and environmental solutions. The energy industry is evolving, and utilities and consumers are coming to us for long-term solutions that make sense for all stakeholders.”

The 2014 Inc. 500, to be unveiled in the September issue of Inc., represents a comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. “They are the hidden champions of job growth and innovation, the real muscle of the American economy,” says Inc. magazine Editor Eric Schurenberg.

Clean Energy Collective develops community-owned renewable energy solutions for electric utilities and their customers. CEC’s community-owned solar model is an offsite solar solution that enables 100 percent of a utility’s ratepayers — including businesses, governments, renters, nonprofits, those with shaded properties, and people of all income levels — the opportunity to own locally-produced clean energy. Without installing panels on one’s roof or property, community solar customers receive similar rebates and incentives as rooftop, or co-located, systems.  Shared utility-scale arrays are also sited to operate at peak efficiency, delivering about 15 percent more power generation than traditional rooftop systems. Additionally, every purchase comes with a comprehensive operations and maintenance program to ensure optimum performance for decades.

About Clean Energy Collective

CEC pioneered the model of delivering clean power-generation through large-scale facilities that are collectively owned by participating utility customers. Since establishing the first community-owned solar garden in the country in 2010 near El Jebel, Colorado, CEC has built or has under development more than 45 community solar projects with 18 utility partners across 8 states, representing 30 MW of community solar capacity.
